Elspeth Ross studied photography at
the Polytechnic of Central London, which subsequently
became the University of Westminster. In 1988 she was
awarded 1st prize by the Salon of British Contemporary
Photography, judged by the late photographer Fay Godwin.
In 1991 she was awarded runner up in the Elle Magazine
Talent Contest. She went on to graduate in 1993 with
a BA Photography 1st Class Honours from the University
of Westminster.
Elspeth worked as a freelance photographer for a few
years gaining commissions from a variety of editorial
and design companies including; Random House Publishing,
Granta Books, Penguin UK, Hyperion Records, EMI Classics,
Pentagram Design, Head Design, Alexander Fest Verlag,
and Aromatherapy Magazine.
Elspeth’s work has been shown at a range of galleries
and art fairs including; Battersea Contemporary Art
Fair, Air Gallery ‘Fine Young Artists’,
Photofusion, The139th Royal Photographic Society Annual
International Print Exhibition, Brunel University, The
Special Photographers’ Company Gallery, The Royal
Academy Summer Exhibition, Ikon Gallery, Watershed Media
Centre, Whitechapel Gallery, Camarawork Gallery, The
South London Open Exhibition part of the Camberwell
Arts Week, and South London Art Gallery, part of ‘Spectrum
Women’s Photography’.
Elspeth’s work is also represented by The Special
Photographers’ Company, Getty Images and Alamy.
Some of her prints are also held in the Readers Digest
Art Collection and Road & Co Ltd in Japan.
